I’m a veteran politico and businessman, but still a rookie on the dad front. My wife and I have two kids, Hugh Michael (5) and Haley (2). Somehow they are, simultaneously, the love of my life and the bane of my existence. They can make me laugh with joy one minute and curse (but not out loud) the next. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love being dad, even if I have no idea what I’m doing. Thanks to a loving and patient wife, good role models from my own parents and lots of prayer, I am surviving (sometimes even thriving).
When I’m not up to my elbows in dirty diapers, Legos and sippie cups, I love to cheer on my Alabama Crimson Tide, enjoy date nights with my beautiful wife, relax in the Florida Keys and worship my Lord and Savior at Chets Creek Church. While I often crave the peaceful quiet of time alone, I’ve learned that nothing in my life is worth doing without sharing it with my wife and kids. It truly is the icing on the cake!
